Dr. Rosario I. Alonzo

Dr. Rosario I. Alonzo is a graduate of Doctor of Philosophy in Filipino Translation, College of Arts & Letters, U.P. 1997; MA Second Language Teaching, College of Education, UP, 1979 and
BSE English, College of Education, U.P., 1972.

She was a consultant for the Evaluation of CHED Centers of Excellence (COEs); Director of Instruction. U.P. Diliman (2005 –2011)
Coordinator, Intensive English Program (IEP)
DepEd Consultant (with official appointment from the Secretary of Education, 2012); Program Development Associate (PDA) at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) from 2001-2005; Coordinator, REGALE (2003-2005); and Faculty-in-Charge, Language Teaching (2002-2003).

She received the following awards: Dr. Jack Richards Professorial Chair Award, 2009; The Mac Arthur & Josefina delos Reyes Excellence in Teaching Award (in English Language) 2008; Dr. Jack Richards Professorial Chair Award, 2007; DJ Faculty Grant; Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society; Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society; Phi Lambda Theta International Honor Society; and was the

Graduate of the Year at the UP College Education, 1972.

She was a Technical Panel Member of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) (2009-2013); Board of Directors – Member, State Universities and Colleges Teacher Educators Association (SUCTEA) (2009-2013); Vice-President, Philippine Association of Language Teaching, Inc. (PALT), country affiliate of TESOL International (2005-2009); Life-time member, Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP); country affiliate of International Reading Association and a
Life-time member of the Pambansang Samahan sa Wika.

A member of the Board of Trustees of other prestigious academic organizations in the country, Dr. Alonzo has conducted educational seminar-workshops all over the country and has published and presented numerous research papers in national and international conferences. Believing in the mission of Mater Dei Academy, she has joined the school to pioneer its college education as College Dean.
